    Bronchitis

Bronchitis is a respiratory condition where your bronchial tubes are inflamed. These tubes carry air to and from the lungs. It is commonly caused by different viruses, such as the influenza virus or the common cold virus, but bacterial infections can also contribute.

Illness symptoms often include a persistent cough, wheezing, chest discomfort, and occasionally the production of mucus. Bronchitis is typically spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

Bronchitis treatment usually depends on the underlying cause. A doctor can help ensure you’re getting the help you need.

If bacterial infection is the cause of bronchitis, your healthcare provider may prescribe antibiotics. However, many cases of bronchitis are viral, and antibiotics are not effective against viruses.

    Pneumonia

Pneumonia is an inflammatory condition affecting the air sacs in the lungs, leading to symptoms such as ongoing cough, shortness of breath, chest pain, and fever. It can be caused by different viruses, bacteria, or fungi, with bacterial pneumonia being a common subtype.

Streptococcus pneumoniae is often the cause of bacterial pneumonia. Pneumonia severity can vary from mild to severe. While bacterial pneumonia itself is not usually contagious, the underlying infections that precede it might be transmissible through respiratory droplets.

Bacterial pneumonia is often treated with different antibiotics, while viral pneumonia may require antiviral medications. Some cases of pneumonia, especially in older adults or those with immune system issues, may require hospitalization for more intensive care.

    COVID

COVID-19 is a viral respiratory sickness caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, a novel coronavirus. COVID symptoms range from very mild to extremely severe and may include ongoing fever, coughing, shortness of breath, fatigue, body aches, loss of taste or smell, and sore throat.

Severe cases can progress to pneumonia and acute respiratory distress syndrome.

The primary transmission mode is through respiratory droplets, similar to other respiratory viruses.

Unfortunately, some COVID tests have been delayed by weeks, making it hard for people to catch the condition. COVID is extremely contagious, so if you suspect you have been infected (or if you have tested positive), you’ll want to isolate yourself as much as possible to limit the spread.

Get a lot of rest to let your body recover from the virus. Keep yourself properly hydrated by drinking fluids such as water, herbal teas, and clear soups.

Keep a close eye on your symptoms, especially if they worsen or if you experience difficulty breathing. Seek medical attention if needed.
