    Acceptance of emotional and social support

    A group of people around you who support you emotionally and socially is critical for your mental and physical well-being. They lend irreplaceable support, which adds years to your life and brings life satisfaction.  To get this done, firstly, be a support for others. This can help in finding a mutual benefit for both support seekers. secondly, Be a part of a support group where you can share your experiences and listen to others.

    Get sufficient sleep

    Sleep for 7-8 hours. Sleep helps improve your mood, weight control, memory, and attention. Sleep is the best way to relax the mind and body; it rejuvenates you and replenishes the body for a fresh start. For a healthy sleep routine, follow these tips: make it a habit to get into bed at the same time each day and stick to it at weekends, too. Keep the temperature of your bedroom cool, avoid using cellphones or other gadgets while going to bed, and prevent stimulant drinks like coffee, sugar and alcohol.

    Regular exercise

    Exercise is essential during and after the cancer diagnosis and treatment. It helps in avoiding weight gain, tiredness, and loss of stamina. And avoid sitting for a longer duration. Exercise can be a part of your daily routine, like when you are going to work or spending some leisure time.

    Practice exercises briefly throughout the day, and do aerobic exercises for good heart function. Consult your doctor before getting into a regular and systematic plan of exercise.

    Stress management

    Keeping stress levels under control can give you good physical and mental health. To manage stress, practice relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, etc. Secondly, keep aside small periods to reflect through the day.     Plan your food and diet.

    A good diet for cancer can improve the quality of life of cancer patients. It can also lower your future risk of developing cancer. Some healthy food habits to improve cancer prognosis and prevention are: include as wide varieties of vegetables as you can in your diet, eat fibre-rich foods like pulses, cereals, foods, and eat probiotic and prebiotic foods like yoghurt and curds for a healthy gut, and incorporate plant protein instead of animal protein foods in your diet.
