    Orthodontic appliances, you ask?

There are lots of different types of orthodontic appliances, and each one has a special job to do. Some appliances are like little guides that help our teeth move to where they should be. Others are like braces which stick to our teeth and give them a gentle nudge in the right direction.

Well, these are just tools that dentists use to help make our smiles better!

    Headgear

Orthodontic headgear is a type of appliance that is used to correct severe bite problems, including overbites and underbites. It’s typically used when the issue cannot be corrected with braces and elastics alone.

Headgear works by applying pressure to the upper teeth and jaw, helping them move into the correct position. It’s usually worn for a specific number of hours each day, as recommended by the orthodontist.

    Herbst Appliance

The Herbst appliance is used to correct overbites by holding the lower jaw forward. It consists of metal tubes and rods that are attached to the upper and lower molars, slowly moving the lower jaw into a more advanced position.

This types of orthodontic appliances works by encouraging the lower jaw forward to match the upper jaw. It consists of metal bars and tubes attached to molars and connected with rods. The Herbst appliance can correct severe overbites and improve breathing patterns in patients with sleep apnea.

    Tongue Crib

A tongue crib is a small metal device that attaches to the molars in the upper jaw and prevents patients from pushing their tongues against their teeth, stopping harmful habits such as thumb-sucking and tongue-thrusting.

A tongue crib is a helpful device used to prevent children from thumb-sucking or tongue-thrusting habits. It consists of metal wires that are placed behind the upper front teeth, making it difficult for the child to engage in these habits.

    Twin Block Appliance

The Twin Block appliance is a type of functional orthodontic appliance that is used to encourage the lower jaw to catch up in growth. It consists of an upper and lower plate, which work together to posture the lower jaw forward.

Orthodontic appliances are a versatile tool in the hands of skilled orthodontists, enabling them to correct a wide variety of dental and facial irregularities. Their ultimate goal is to provide you with healthy oral function and a confidence-boosting smile.

    Palatal Expander

This appliance is used to widen the upper jaw, creating more space for your teeth to align properly. It is typically used in younger patients whose bones are still growing and can be adjusted over time to gradually expand the palate.

For adults, achieving a perfect smile might seem a bit more arduous. But fret not, the Palate Expander for adults comes to the rescue! This marvel of orthodontics aids in broadening the upper jaw, making room for your teeth to align perfectly.
